Kate Flatt Projects

Kate Flatt Projects provides an umbrella for a growing portfolio of distinctive dance theatre works which feature talented dancers and performers, with integrated design concepts and high production values. Wherever possible, new works for Kate Flatt Projects are created with live music, songs and text.
Most recent have been Outdoor Arts creations.
The Weathermen (2018) created for children and families, it explores through dance theatre, the theme of weather, with sound effects and an eccentric weather machine.
Step Ladder and a Goat (2016) is playful work involving the antics of an acrobatic goat, and was created with https://www.nikkiandjd.com.
Ballroom of Joys and Sorrows (2012) and Oss and the Ox (2015) reflect Kate’s passion for narrative and ritual themes drawing on traditional dance and music sources, which engage audiences through community participation work.
Soul Play (2010) and Slowburn (2013) addressed emotional resonance, subtle interplay between characters and a sense of mystery woven into the choreography.
These developments were also present in Undivided Loves, commissioned and toured by Phoenix Dance theatre in 2016.

Since 2009, Kate has been a Creative Associate at Watford Palace Theatre.
Recent commissioning partners include Phoenix Dance Theatre for Undivided Loves 2016, ROH 2, Segue Productions, Ipswich New Wolsey, Colchester Mercury, Trestle Arts Base, Greenwich Dance, EFDSS, The Junction in Cambridge and Norwich Arts Centre.

Kate Flatt’s recent creative collaborators have include composer and percussionist Adriano Adewale, singer and musician Tim van Eyken, music director and arranger James Holmes, writer Anna Reynolds; designers Sofie Leyton, Chloe Lamford, Hayley Grindle and Joanna Parker; lighting designers Anna Watson and Kathryn Williams; sound designer Dan Frost and digital artist Ian Galloway of Mesmer; associate Choreographers Vanessa Cook, Amir Giles and Yael Lowenstein.
