The work-in-progress sharing of Slowburn was the culmination of a three-week R&D process in the studio at Watford Palace Theatre over the month of May. Along with Designer Joanna Parker and Digital Artist Ian Galloway, Kate Flatt worked in collaboration with dance artists Elisabetta d’Aloia, Amir Giles and Igor Urzelai, through improvisation and playful exploration to develop the language and tone for new dance theatre work.
“We have begun to find a way to tell poetic tales, as ambiguous dream-like evocations in the medium of dance. The set by Designer Joanna Parker has enabled interaction with moveable set elements. Working with Digital Artist Ian Galloway we have explored how to incorporate images into the action to create a ‘magic lantern’ world.”
